Nature(al) Reminders

Measured order and precision in creation; our young rain tree (from underneath), the spiral pattern on a pinecone, the way the petals of a rose are formed in concentric circles around the center… all beautiful and a clear pointer to a Creator, to my Heavenly Father. “In the beginning, He created…[everything].”

Is there a purpose to seeing His creation and relating it to being orderly and measured? Do you think or see patterns in words, numbers, in just about everything? I do. And when something so beautifully ordered is a tree, it points me back to God. Romans 1:20 NASB says, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” Nature, and the way its created, drives us to see God, to see “His invisible attributes, His eternal power, and divine nature”.

Being in the presence of His creation is enough to still the heart and mind and to turn it to thanks to God, the Creator for all He’s done, and is doing.

Which really brings me to a point… There is LOTS of unrest, unknowns and a TON of “I don’t know what to do” out there. I’m still looking for a job. Others are quarantined, waiting on that negative COVID test, still others are still working their jobs plus some, because of fewer workers and resources. And for my Florida friends, the fact that we have a hurricane south of us to remind us of the season we’re *actually* in…

And yet, God reminds me…us… through something as common as a tree, that He is the Creator, He has the eternal power, He created and manages the universe and everything in it. And He knows where my next job is, the results of that test, and the rest that we all need.

God help all of us, to keep looking to You; we are “without excuse” when it comes to seeing Your handiwork and having it remind us of Your work, Your knowledge, Your power, and Your sovereignty. “For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, amen.
